French Toast

This is one of the classics that took me a long time to master. To the extent that I had to borrow the recipe from my wife (hope she is not reading this)! If you get it right, it’s makes for a really simple and tasty breakfast.

  • Bread slices – 2
  • Egg – 1
  • Milk – 2-3 teaspoons
  • Black pepper – ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil/ Butter for pan

  • In a shallow flat pan, beat the egg, milk, salt and pepper till they make a uniform mixture
  • Cut the bread slice into 4 pieces (you can choose to not cut it as well)
  • Dip bread pieces 1-by-1 into the egg mixture and let it soak for 5-10 seconds
  • Melt a pat of butter or a touch of oil on a flat pan over medium heat
  • Add soaked bread slices and let them cook
  • Flip them over once every 1-2 minutes till they are golden brown and crisp
  • Enjoy warm 🙂
